About Us

Introduction

Suono is, primarily, an acoustic consultancy practice. We are based in the South East area of the UK, and in the Veneto region of Italy, and regularly provide advice regarding acoustics, noise and vibration on projects across Europe.

Suono is a trading name of two companies as explained in our Legal and Privacy page, but functions as one company on a day-to-day basis allowing us to better serve our wide and varied client base.

The UK company was founded in 2021 by Tim, Richard, Vernon and Ben, all formerly of Cole Jarman.

Darren joined Suono in Summer 2023 to establish our Italian company Suono Acustica S.r.l.

Our purpose and values

Our founding purpose is “to convey the art and science of sound”. To achieve this we will:

• prepare transparent and accessible advice to our Clients,
• promote the knowledge of the science of acoustics,
• look to progress the art of acoustics in all spheres of life.

Our philosophy

Acoustics is intrinsic to all aspects of life and the built environment. Sound and vibration is fundamental to the human experience but also impacts upon technology and wildlife.

Acoustic design is a science. Acoustics is scientifically quantifiable and, as an engineering discipline, sound and vibration may be manipulated to achieve measurable design targets.

Acoustic design is also an art; it has a subjective quality. Collaboration is therefore core to our design philosophy; working closely with the design team and end users is essential to determine the most cost effective and materially efficient solutions; working closely with other acoustic professionals brings a breadth of understanding that can only benefit our Clients.

Giving Back

We believe in giving back to the community and offer pro-bono services to charitable organisations, community projects, and not-for-profit initiatives. Our goal is to help organisations that may otherwise have limited access to acoustic expertise by providing high-quality solutions and consultancy at no or reduced cost.

Whether designing a community space, a performance venue, a quiet space for mental health support, or attending planning application hearings as expert witnesses, we are committed to supporting causes that benefit society. We are also keen to promote acoustics to the next generation of designers, and welcome opportunities to do this.
